U19 West Leinster Soccer League Round 3

St Brendan’s under 19 boys soccer team played their final group match in the West Leinster League on Thursday 7th December when they met Colaiste Choilm Tullamore on the St Brendan’s AstroTurf pitch.

The first half opened with both sides working hard and attacks developing at both ends of the pitch. St Brendan’s took the lead when captain Johnny Corboy took full advantage of careless defending to slot the ball past the Tullamore ‘keeper.  HT 1-0 .
The second half began with both sides again looking dangerous going forward before Johnny Corboy gave St Brendan’s a 2-0 lead with an excellent finish when the ball broke to him in the penalty box. However Colaiste Choilm came right back into the game with two goals in quick succession to draw level before another Tullamore shot came back off a post.
St Brendan’s were to have the last word with five minutes left on the watch when, after great work by Johnny Corboy, substitute DJ McLoughlin was on hand  to finish to the net to give St Brendan’s all three points.  FT 3-2 .

This result was great reward for a super team effort from all the St Brendan’s players and puts St Brendan’s in a great position to qualify for their first senior West Leinster final in many years. Well done to all!
