As Transition Year students on Tuesday and Wednesday the 9th and 10th of September 2014, we were given the opportunity to take part in a film-making/podcasting workshop.
This workshop lasted for a total of just over 3 hours. The film-making part gave us an insight into how easy and fun it is to produce ‘mini movies’, just using devices available to us such as smartphones, Ipads, tablets etc. We were shown different apps available free of charge that can be used to produce short films.
To our delight we were given the chance to form two groups and each of us created a film trailer. This was new to all and was a great experience.
During the podcasting workshop we learnt the concept of podcasting. To our joy we were also taught how to make a podcast. We got advice and tips on how enjoyable and easy it is to create our own podcasts.
All participants were delighted to get the chance to create our own podcast and listen back to it. Different skills such as editing were also explained to us.
Overall the workshop was of great benefit to all of us. We were given an overview of how the film and podcasting industry works. Many of the students now aspire to working in film and podcasting as a result of our experience.
